Internet Background
The Internet can be thought of as a collection of computers that are all connected together by a global network.
Fig. 1 shows a simple layout of the Internet global network, which is where users can dial-up to the Internet and obtain access to many websites and services.
If you want to access websites, you will first dial up to an ISP, who will provide you with the Internet connection to the backbone of where millions of other computers are connected.
Normally the website pages are hosted on computers called servers, which have applications that handle requests from users and serve website pages to many users.
