Using the Internet
Many types of information can be served over the Internet.
After you have successfully connected to your ISP, you can gain access to the millions of websites around the world that offer everything from news, weather reports to shopping online.
When connecting to a website like Yahoo, you can type the address, "www.yahoo.com," in the address box of your browser and you will then be directly taken to the Yahoo home page.
Fig. 3 shows how you establish a connection between your PC and the Yahoo web servers. Once you are on the Yahoo servers, the server simply waits for your request for pages and sends them to your browser as you click the links on the site.
